Rolex, Patek, AP and More: Inside Sarasota Watch Company

If you are a watch lover like me, you know the feeling of waiting on a list for a call that may never come. So today I want to show you one of my favorite places in town, whether you are looking to buy a watch, need one serviced, want fine jewelry, or are hunting for pre-owned luxury pieces. Let’s step inside Sarasota Watch Company, a locally owned, family-run business right on 41.

New Watches, With Full Warranty

I started with Mike, their in-house watch specialist, and asked what people can find in the store. On the new side, Sarasota Watch Company is an authorized dealer for brands including Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, Casio, and Luminox. Those are all brand new, with the full manufacturer warranty, direct from the brand.

That matters more than people realize. Buying from an authorized dealer means a genuine watch, the real warranty, and someone local to call if anything goes wrong.

The Pre-Owned Case Is the Fun Part

Here is what excites me most, and I have sent a number of my own clients in to pick up something special. Their pre-owned luxury selection is always changing, but on any given day you might find Tudor, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Franck Muller, and Panerai, just to name a few.

And if what you want is not in the case, they can go find it. Mike told me they network with dealers and wholesalers worldwide, so they can source just about any watch out there. For anyone who has been on a waitlist, that is the shortcut: a pre-owned piece you can actually buy, instead of waiting for a phone call.

To be clear about one thing, because it matters with luxury watches: the Rolex, Patek, and AP pieces here are pre-owned. Their authorized brands are the ones listed above.

Service, In-House

Every watch eventually needs attention, and this is where a specialist earns their keep. On the quartz side, they handle batteries and movement replacements. On the automatic side, they do in-house service on all types of watches, anything from an automatic Seiko up to Rolex, Patek, and AP.

That is a real convenience. A mechanical watch is a precision machine, and regular servicing is what keeps it accurate and lets it last for generations. Having someone in town who can do it, rather than mailing a valuable piece away for months, is a genuine perk of living here.

Fine Jewelry, With Gina

Next, I caught up with Gina, their jewelry specialist, starting with the bridal section. They carry engagement rings in emerald, brilliant, and princess cuts, plus wedding bands, anniversary bands, earrings, and necklaces. In Gina’s words, everything you need, especially with the holidays coming up.

Beyond bridal, there are fashion rings and gemstones like peridot, blue topaz, and rubies, along with natural diamond tennis necklaces, diamond rings and bracelets, and designer collections including Doves by Doron Paloma.

And ladies, gala season is upon us. Gina pulled out a couple of pieces I have to tell you about: paired with a gown, they would be absolutely stunning. You know the invitations are coming, so be ready. If you are new to town, my guide to Sarasota arts and culture will give you a sense of just how busy the season gets.

Saving the Best for Last

For the watch people, here is the good stuff. Mike laid out a tray of pieces he said might be the only ones available anywhere, and I could not argue.

  • A Zenith chronograph, which Mike described as a Yoshida Japanese special, in solid 18 karat gold with a factory baguette bezel. Only 50 made worldwide.
  • An Omega Speedmaster at 41 millimeters, flight qualified, with a design inspired by the military chronograph.
  • A Rolex pre-Daytona from around 1960, in an 18 karat gold case. As Mike put it, very, very rare to find.
  • A Rolex Sky-Dweller, 42 millimeters in full yellow gold.
  • A vintage Patek Philippe reference 3800 at 37 millimeters. I love that one.
  • An Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a full 18 karat gold case and a ceramic bezel. Only 500 made worldwide.

Pre-owned inventory moves, so these specific pieces may be gone by the time you read this. That is exactly why it is worth stopping in rather than just browsing online. In person is where the good stuff is.

Why Specialists Matter for Luxury Watches

Buying a high-end watch, especially pre-owned, is not the same as buying anything else. Authenticity, condition, service history, and whether a piece has original parts all affect its value enormously. Working with people who handle these watches every day, and who can service them in-house, gives you a level of confidence you simply do not get from a stranger online.

It is the same reason I tell clients to work with a local specialist when they buy a home. The details that determine value are rarely obvious to anyone who does not deal with them constantly.

Celebrating a Closing? Here Is an Idea

Here is my pitch. Whether you are looking for a gift, a last-minute holiday purchase, or something to mark buying or selling a house, this is a great place to do it. A closing is a milestone worth marking, and a watch is one of the few gifts that can last a lifetime.

If you appreciate craftsmanship at this level, you will probably enjoy my look inside a one-of-a-kind luxury home on Longboat Key, which is the architectural version of the same obsession with detail.

Stop In

Thanks to Mike and Gina for showing us around. Sarasota Watch Company is at 4402 S Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, and you can browse more at sarasotawatch.com. Check them out online, but more importantly, go see them in person.
