Our city government is minimizing and reducing the influence that we the voter have in the choices that are made. This is an unhealthy trend for any government to be following!
We see it happening with the current leaders actively working to take away an elected body of government, the school board, without asking the voters if they want to relinquish their right to vote for that body. The "special election" for Mayor earlier this year again proved that the party that is, and has been, in power for the better part of my lifetime minimized the influence and participation that the voters had within the process.
The job of a city council member is to work with and trust the voters of their district to advise them, the council member, on what is needed for a prosperous neighborhood.
